Bill grew up learning the chimney business from his "Chimney Sweep" Dad and Grandfather and after 30 years of working in the business himself, Bill, his wife Tammy and their four kids, (two under 5) moved to Little Britain from Port Perry with a dream of expanding his chimney and wood burning business into a full fledged "One Stop Fireplace Shop". Ashes Away had been serving customers in the Durham and surrounding regions for over 20 years. They established a great customer base through Bill's areas of expertise in chimney cleaning/repairs, WETT inspections, installations of chimney liners and prefab chimneys. Because of the demand for craftsmanship and style the hearth industry has been changing and the women's touch is becoming more prominent. To this end, and also to work hand in hand supporting her husband, Tammy decided to dedicate herself to learning the business inside out and became fully involved with her husband in this effort.
Like many entrepreneurs, they spent their first year in Little Britain running their chimney business out of their new home, working, juggling family life and planning their
expanded business of offering heating appliances to their customers from a store front/showroom environment. Because of the tremendous amount of positive feedback that they were receiving, it didn't take long for them to recognize that they had made the right move. With Bill's technical expertise and Tammy's retail, sales and administrative skills, it was clear that a store front/showroom was the only way to go.
Their new showroom on the main street of Little Britain, which they opened in September 2006, is a destination store for craftsmanship and quality. It displays a stylish high end product line of both wood
burning, and gas/propane EPA Certified stoves and fireplaces, some with a new and unique "closed door lighting system". All of their units were designed for heat efficiency and care for the environment, based on
quality, service and craftsmanship. Each of their, Canadian distributors, who provide top of the line products inspired by Canadian and European design, are dedicated to providing outstanding service
while offering some of the best warranties in the business. Every product in their lineup was built to last with the customer's needs in mind. Bill and Tammy want you, their new and existing customers, to know

To help keep things moving along during their busy times, Bill and Tammy have a gas and propane technician available to help with installations. As busy as Bill is he is still determined to continue with his education in the business. He is currently taking a night course at Durham College to obtain his G2 gas installer license.You are welcome to come by Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm and browse their
unique showroom. You will find that they also have an variety of hearth boards in ceramic or stone which you could order as well as decorative Stone Rox. A number of units are currently operational and Tammy has plans this winter to have at least 2 more wood burning and 2 more gas units available for your inspection.
