Diane Jung
Traditional Usui Reiki Master

Virginia Hewton, Heralife Independent Distributor

If you've ever wondered, “what is Reiki, and what can it do for me”, think of it like this... A MASSAGE FOR THE SOUL!

If you are a long time resident of Lindsay you may remember, back in the 90's a clinic called “The Healing Place” located on Albert Street. Organized by Rev. Gay Burns, this is where Diane Jung, along with seven or eight other health care practitioners performed their special arts of healing. To tell you specifically about Diane however, we need go back several years to when she attended university in New Brunswick and there met the love of her life, John Jung. John and Diane, who are now both Reiki Masters, have lived in Lindsay since 1969, where they taught Physical Education at L.C.V.I. and brought up their four lovely daughters, who have given them four wonderful grandchildren. John gave the students at L.C.V.I. 30 years of his teachings before he retired and Diane spent 5 years doing the same.

Eventually though, as Diane had been intrigued with the healing arts since 1985, she wanted to become more involved in working as a healer. To that end she opened up the first massage therapy clinic in Lindsay and operated this for five years. Later on in the 90's Diane and John opened a retreat in Coboconk called Wind in the Pines where both men and women were welcome to come for rest, relaxation, healing and a place to nurture one self in mind, body and spirit. With her background in physical education Diane's intentions were to work as a massage therapist with sports athletes, but she found, more and more, that the patients she was seeing were farmers, teachers, people from all walks of life with ailments such as chronic headaches, low back problems, etc etc etc.

Diane began to feel a connection with these patients and something was telling her that she was not completely fulfilling her calling, she had the nagging feeling that there was more she could do. To prove that there are no accidents in life, that everything that happens, happens for a reason, Diane's eye caught a brochure on Traditional Japanese Reiki in a book store. Reading the information in the brochure is what opened her heart and began the wonderful journey she was meant to travel through her life.

After taking the Level I Reiki training everything became clear to Diane. She became aware of the aura of energy around all of us. She became aware of the connection of body, mind and spirit and how being aware of this connection was vital to our physical and mental health. She became aware that this was what she was meant to do. Empowered and enthused with the knowledge and skill she was receiving she carried on with her training until she became an official Reiki Master.

Not only does Diane practice her Reiki healing on her patients, but she is also a qualified teacher of this wonderful healing art. Most significantly Diane Jung was instrumentally involved in bringing Reiki to this area. There is magic in Reiki in that it brings peace of mind and erases both physical and emotional baggage for both the receiver and the one delivering, as in this special process there is often a connection between the two. It is also not unheard of to be able to send positive energy across the miles to those who understand. Reiki increases the body's natural ability to heal physical ailments and to release the cause of dis-ease.

When Reiki is brought to focused awareness, through a Reiki practitioner it accelerates mental and physical well-being and spiritual growth. A Reiki session is typically 1-1/2 hours in length, in a relaxing and nurturing atmosphere. It is a gentle hands-on experience. Reiki is not a massage. No special clothing is needed and no pressure is applied. The gentle soothing healing energy of Reiki is focused through the hands of the practitioner. You may expect to feel deeply relaxed, balanced and have a general feeling of well-being. Reiki can be a profound experience of deep relaxation and inner quiet. It may allow you to shift into a deeper sense of self and your personal priorities.

This powerful life force has been used to reduce stress and burn-out, addictions, depression, relieve acute pain, sleep disorders, muscle spasms, induce a feeling of peace and calmness and give you the ability to re-balance your energy systems, plus many other dis-eases. It has also been very successful in providing benefit to Hospice clients and for those in Pallaitive care.

Having returned this past yar from B.C., Diane continues to practice and teach Reiki. For further information on this, please call Diane at 705-359-1179. It can change your life.
