It's really all about doing what you really love to do and not being afraid of changing direction. Matthew, his wife Sandra, a Dental Hygienist, and their two children are currently living in Fenelon Falls. Growing up in Milton however Matthew had a pretty good idea of where he was headed, and to that end he attended 4 years at McMaster University studying Mechanical Engineering. After working 9 years in the steel fabricating industry and various sales positions, the realization hit him that he was not having fun and his career choices had ceased to be satisfying.
At that point Matthew made a list of all the things he really liked doing. After prioritizing and remembering how he went through 2 years of pain from a separated shoulder before he finally found relief, he made his choice and then decided he would have to find a way to get paid for it! With the help and support of his wife, Matthew made the decision to forge ahead with his desire to be the person to "Help people feel better".
Acupuncture, which is best known as a powerful pain management therapy, was Matthew's top choice, and training of course was in his immediate future. Matthew achieved his Certificate in Acupuncture two years ago and has recently upgraded to his Diploma of Acupuncture as well as becoming a Reiki Master. With that designation under his belt he opened his clinic in Lindsay and has been able to fulfill his dream to be the person to "Help people feel better". Matthew does not plan to stop there. He is currently engaged in a two year course to achieve his Doctorate of Acupuncture and is looking forward to his trip to India where he will do a one month internship in the Complimentary Medical Hospital to complete his doctorate.
Matthew has recently had the opportunity to move his clinic, Acupuncture Works, to a larger facility at 68 McLaughlin in Lindsay, and he is really excited about his plans for this new clinic. Here he will be able to provide more services with more professional practitioners on board, such as a Yoga Studio with Pam Guzzi, Revitalize Massage; Diane Stevens a registered massage therapist, 878-3330; a Nutritional Therapist, Lisa Robbins; an Aroma therapist; and Ted Power who is currently studying to become a Reiki Master. Matthew can also supply a variety of Homeopathic remedies. There will be several treatment rooms, and a detox centre, with sauna and whirlpool to help with sport medicine. As well Acupuncture Works has become affiliated with the Open International University of Complimentary Medicine (www.oiucm.com) and will become a training centre, for medical professionals accepting students who have prior training in medicine or alternative medicine and offering courses in acupuncture, reflexology, aromatherapy and herbology.
Live blood analysis, which is one of Matthew's specialities, it's one of the simplest and most interesting ways to identify a variety of health problems. A single drop of blood from the finger placed immediately on a slide and examined directly in front of you will identify a vast amount of problems such hyper acidity, toxicity congestion and quality of digestion to mention just a few. The results of this simple exam will be explained to you and special treatment recommendations will be made to improve your health. Acupuncture, a powerful pain management therapy, can be effective with problems such as menopause, asthma, weight loss, chronic or acute muscle pain or injury and many many more health issues.
Ask Matthew his advice on starting up your own business and he tells us ..."Make sure you love it if that key ingredient is missing it won’t work!" “Don’t be afraid to advertise, if you don't know how to market yourself get help!" "Focus on what you are good at and farm out what you're not!" "Work smarter not harder - do what you are best at!!"
Matthew's aspiration for his clinic is to attract high quality professionals. Acupuncture Works will be the place to practice healing! Keep watching for notices on their Grand Opening coming this month and take advantage to visit and tour their facility and meet their practitioners! Call today and Matthew will offer you your first treatment and consultation towards better health absolutely FREE!
