Raised in Georgetown Ontario, by a Mom, Dad and Grandparents who owned and operated a family restaurant and then a variety store, entrepreneurship became second nature to Mary. Mary cannot remember a time when her family did not own and operate their own business.
Although Mary has done some traveling throughout her careers she decided just one year ago to make Lindsay her home. Being close to her daughter and her grandchildren has been an added bonus to living in this town that she has come to love so much. Mary always had her part time responsibilities in contributing to the family business and when her parents retired she took full responsibility until she sold the business in 1984. At that time Mary went to California for four years and ran a business working with a group of architects. In her spare time ... just because she loved it so much ... she dabbled in helping friends to rearrange and redecorate their homes. In 1989 Mary returned to Canada and spent the next 10 years working within a corporate structure, but all the while enjoying her passion for re-decorating and doing home make-overs as a hobby. In 2005 Mary was very proud when she was invited to join a group of women delegates to the United Nations as "Women For World Peace. Whether as a hobby or as her own business, Mary has spent over 25 years in helping friends, family and clients to Cozy-up their homes in a cost effective manner utilizing their own items and furniture to their best advantage. Mary tells us that home makeovers is the latest concept and the most economical alternative to often expensive traditional interior design or re-design.
Mary considers herself a "home detailer". What she does is to consult with people to show them how to utilize their own items and furniture and to showcase their old treasures. With an educated eye she can turn a tired house into a warm inviting home. When she visits your home she: 1) makes it her business to get to know the members of the family so she can personalize their needs, 2) she will work with the husband, the wife and the children to assess their individual needs; 3) she considers their lifestyle, every family is different; 4) she studies your surroundings and takes pictures, 5) and then .. she returns with recommendations and an action plan for you and will cost out any necessary expenses. Some projects can be carried out for as little at $ 100 or $200.
Mary can be contracted to perform her speciality when your home is in the hands of a real estate. She has often worked with realtors and made dramatic transformations to a home for sale through "home staging" using her specialized rejuvenation techniques.
Ever had that feeling that your house is just plain "tired", you're sick of looking at the same old four walls, your longing for some fluffing up but are not sure where to start and you're concerned about cost? Mary is you saviour here! Mary's concept of rejuvenation is often a pleasant and rewarding surprise to many people!
Some recommendations Mary might make for you during a two or three hour consultation: 1) de-cluttering; 2) re-organizing rooms, 3) re-locate furniture pieces to their advantage; 4) refacing cupboards instead of expensive new ones; 5) recommendations for colour and new paint; 6) perhaps fluffing up your style of draperies, 7) show you how to "show your treasures " to their advantage; 8) rearrange your living and working spaces to their advantage ... etc. etc. etc.
Every home and every family is different and Mary knows how to go with the flow! She loves each one and loves the differences of each one.
Mary is also one of the few "home make-over designers" who is able to work with the physically challenged to help re design their living spaces to give them a more practical and comfortable surrounding.
Mary is bondable, has had a security check done by the Kawartha Lakes Police Department, is a member in good standing with the Lindsay &District Chamber of Commerce and a volunteer at Ross Memorial Hospital . All of these credits are important and something you need to know about a person who will be entering your home.
If your home has special needs .. if you are moving into a new home, (upsizing or downsizing) and need some decorating advice ... if your family home could do with some fluffing up, utilizing much of what you already have ... if your home office could do with some re-organizing ... or if you are selling and want to make the best showing you can to get the best price you can ... call Mary...ask her lots of questions ... she's there to help ... you just might be pleasantly surprised!
